While Conrad Praetzel occasionally slips into the trap of "pop songs without words" this California native still shows a lot of promise on
Between Present and Past (Scarlet Records). His music has a certain innocent rapture to it that is most successful, oddly enough, on slower,
darker tunes like "Waiting at the Tower." Praetzel manages to retain an instinctual, childlike spirit throughout the twelve tracks on this album,
even though it's obvious he wields some strong studio skills.
